New in our courtyard: A.lava stage and a collective tile art work celebrate Annantalo Art Centre’s 30th anniversary year
A-lava is Annantalo Arts Centre’s new public venue and performance stage, with events scheduled throughout the summer. A-lava offers performances, workshops, encounters and lots more summer fun for families, children and young people.
The venue will host theatre, movies, a variety of open art workshops for children and young people, concerts, open stage events and graffiti workshops as well as holiday events and festivities for the whole family.
A.lava will open in the back yard of Annantalo on 28 May and be open until September whenever something is going on. Check out the programme at Annantalo’s website and follow us on social media to keep up to date! The entirely wood-constructed stage is at the rear of Annantalo Arts Centre, with good transport connections in the middle of Kamppi.
A.lava is designed and built by a group of international students from Aalto University’s Wood Program at the Department of Architecture.
All of A.lava’s programme is free of charge.
We will celebrate A.lava stage’s opening on Sunday 28 May from 1 pm to 4 pm. You can find the programme here.
A collective tile work composed of unique handmade ceramic tiles has been completed in front of Annantalo. During the past year, a small tile factory has been operating in Annantalo, where almost a thousand participants of different ages have created their own cubic tiles at arts classes or various events. Come and find your own! The tile factory was run by ceramicist Kirsi Kivivirta, artist Harri Piispanen and head art teacher Erja Mehto.
A-lava and the tile project are part of Annantalo’s 30th anniversary programme.
